Kenny Wax Ltd is one of the leading Production Companies operating in the West End and on Tour. We are looking for an experienced Technical Stage Supervisor to join our team in London for the premiere of this new Mischief play.

Show schedule
Performances are 6 days per week, typically Tuesday – Sunday. The performance schedule during previews varies and shall be confirmed at point of contract.

Personal attributes
We are looking for applicants with previous Technical Stage Supervisor experience. The role requires someone who has excellent technical knowledge and a calm and practical approach to technical troubleshooting. Candidates must also have previous experience of Kinesys rigging systems, performer flying, automation and set electrics, and the ability to work flexibly in high pressure environments.
Duties and Responsibilities
To be responsible for operating the automation equipment, performer flying and Kinesys system for each performance and rehearsal as instructed and dictated by the direction of the Production;
To ensure all automation equipment is cleaned and daily auto checks completed to ensure equipment is in working order;
To ensure all set electrics equipment is maintained and daily auto checks completed to ensure equipment is in working order;
To ensure all rigging equipment is maintained and in safe working order ahead of each performance;
To assist with stage cues and automation / set electrics operations as required during performances or as directed by the Stage Manager;
To attend all rehearsals, show calls, maintenance calls, fit-ups, get-outs and other calls as required, including emergency calls in the event of equipment failure or other incident;
Person Specification
Demonstrable professional experience working in a similar role in the West End or on Tour;
Demonstrable experience of working with Kinesys systems, performer flying and automation systems and travelators;
Knowledge and experience of the working practices of a West End production;
Experience in basic programming and fault finding;
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written with excellent attention to detail;
The ability to work well with creative teams;
Ability to work under pressure and effectively prioritise;
Experience of working on a new production;
Awareness of current Health & Safety legislation;
Awareness of current SOLT/BECTU Union Agreements.
To deal with emergency repairs to automation equipment;
To compile and keep updated cue sheets and other relevant show paperwork as required, in both digital and hard copy;
To be responsible for your department’s COSHH record / Health & Safety assessments and maintain good housekeeping procedures;
Maintain good communication with the Production Manager, hire companies and Health & Safety Consultant, reporting any accidents or issues;
To recruit and train deps as necessary to make sure there is sufficient cover for you available for any periods of absence/holiday;
To work collaboratively with all other departments, including the theatre technical team, to ensure the smooth running of the production and rehearsals;
Ensure all equipment and backstage areas are kept in a tidy and secure manner;
To provide support for all tech, understudy and dress rehearsals, as required;
To be a proactive member of the technical team and support the wider team;
To compile and keep up-to-date all necessary show paperwork both hard copy and digital;
To account for and support the administration of petty cash for your Department spends, obtaining where possible VAT invoices for any hires and purchases made through petty cash;
Any other reasonable duty that would normally fall within the remit of a Technical Supervisor based on industry norms and practice.
