CAST ANNOUNCED FOR MIND MANGLER MEXICO

04 February 2026

AFTER CONQUERING AUDIENCES IN LONDON AND NEW YORK, THE MIND MANGLER COMES TO THE TEATRO HELÉNICO

The Mexican Ministry of Culture, through the Hellenic Cultural Centre, presents El Manipulador de mentes, una noche de ilusión trágica (Mind Mangler: A Night of Tragic Illusion), the celebrated magic-comedy by Mischief, which will arrive at the Hellenic Theatre under the production of Próspero Teatro, Camilla Brett and Jerónimo Best, marking its world debut entirely in Spanish.

The show, created in 2022 as a spin-off of Magic Goes Wrong, features the character of The Mind Mangler, an ambitious but unsuccessful mentalist who tries—without much success—to read the minds of the audience. The play works as an ode to failed effort and humour, where a struggling magician and his assistants seek to leave the audience speechless at all costs, resulting in a succession of failed illusions, calculated mistakes and unpredictable situations in which mentalism, physical humour and stage chaos combine with Mischief’s characteristic ingenuity.

Originally premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the play – then titled Mind Mangler: Member of the Tragic Circle – continued its international tour on stages in New York and London, consolidating the international prestige of the company that created theatrical phenomena such as The Play That Goes Wrong and Peter Pan Goes Wrong. Its character’s were originally created in Magic Goes Wrong by Penn Jillette, Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, Henry Shields and Teller.

The production is directed by Hannah Sharkey, with resident direction and Spanish translation by Jerónimo Best. The cast includes Daniel Haddad, Daniel Ortiz and Miguel Tercero. The creative team includes set design by Emilio Zurita; lighting and audio by José Valdés; costumes by Alex Gama; and video by Ann Beltrán.

Designed for all audiences, the play offers a theatrical experience where illusion dialogues with laughter and surprise, and where mistakes—far from being hidden—become the driving force of the show.

El Manipulador de mentes, una noche de ilusión trágica will run from 27 February to 29 March 2026, with performances on Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 6 p.m. at the Teatro Helénico. Tickets cost $410 on the ground floor and $250 on the upper floor. There is currently a 30 per cent discount on advance sales, valid until 15 February. Tickets can be purchased at the box office of the Centro Cultural Helénico, located at Avenida Revolución 1500, or on the website: helenico.gob.mx.
